USA:The Christine and Ian Bolt Scholarships 2011 by University of Kent

The Christine and Ian Bolt Scholarships were set up in memory of Christine Bolt, Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Kent, and were generously funded by her late husband, Ian Bolt.Scholarships of up to £10,000 each (to include tuition fees) will be offered for one year in support of a sustained period of research while in the USA. During this year the students must be registered on a full-time postgraduate degree by research at the University of Kent. In exceptional circumstances, the scholarship holders may be invited to re-apply for a further one year's funding.

Students on programmes provided by the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Environment , will also be awarded the scholarship for subsequent years of study if they progress with no re-sits.

Europe:Erasmus Mundus (EMaVE) M.Sc. Scholarships 2011-2013

The Admission Board assesses the applications and ranks them by academic excellence.The top students will be awarded with an Erasmus Mundus grant.Some grants are given to the best ranked applicants who have not been selected for Erasmus Mundus scholarships.The amount covers the tuition fees for their second year of studies.
Decisions are taken by the Admission Board with respect to the rule of limited number of grants per country.

UK:University of Exeter Mathematics PhD Studentship

Under GREENCYCLESII (GCII), the University of Exeter will participate in the work package to improve constraints on terrestrial ecosystem processes through targeted model evaluation. Extensive use will be made of the new observational datasets derived elsewhere in GCII.The Early Stage Researcher (ESR) will evaluate existing algorithms and develop new algorithms for coupled vegetation and soil nitrogen cycling in extra-tropical ecosystems. The general focus will be on the assessment of the roles of nitrogen cycling for ecosystem structure and function, under present and future environmental conditions, and will quantify relevant feedbacks within the climate system.
