France : The Emile Boutmy Scholarship 2010-2011 For International Undergraduate Students

Students from outside of the European Union who have been offered a place to study at undergraduate or Masters level are eligible.This scholarship is awarded to students with excellent academic credentials and whose profile matches that of their chosen course. Students' financial situations are also taken into account when assessing their applications.

Undergraduate programme: Amount and length of the scholarship

The Emile Boutmy programme can take several different forms for students on the undergraduate programme. The length of the scholarship is always dependent on scholarship recipients' academic results; they must be ranked within the top half of students within their year group.

1. A full tuition grant of 8900€ per year for the three years of the undergraduate programme, in addition to a grant to cover part of the cost of living of €5000 per year.

Scholarship recipients will forfeit their right to the grant to cover living costs if their academic results are not with the top 50% of students within their year group at the end of the first year *...



2. A full tuition grant of 8900€ per year for the three years of the undergraduate programme.

Scholarship recipients will forfeit their right to this scholarship if their academic results are not with the top 50% of students within their year group at the end of the first year *.

3. A grant of €8000 per year to cover tuition fees (equivalent to an exemption of 85% of eligible fees) for the three years of the undergraduate programme.

If the academic results of scholarship recipients are not within the upper half of students within their year group at the end of the second semester of the first year, they will receive a warning notifying them that they must improve their results by the end of the first semester of the second year. If by this time, the students' results have not improved and they are not in the upper half of students, they will forfeit their right to the scholarship as from the second semester of the second year.*



If scholarship recipients academic results' place them within the top 10% of students in their year group at the end of their first year of students**, they will be eligible for a grant to cover living costs of €5000 for their second year of students; this will be in addition to the grant covering tuition fees.

4. A grant of €4000 per year to cover tuition fees (equivalent to an exemption of 45% of fees) for the three years of the undergraduate programme.

If the scholarship recipients' academic results are not within the upper half of their year group at the end of the second semester of the first year, they will receive a warning notifying them that they must improve their results by the end of the first semester of the second year. If the student's results have not impr oved by then and do not place him/her in the upper half of students, they will forfeit their right to the scholarship as from the second semester of the second year.*

If the scholarship recipient is within the top 10% of his year group at the end of the first year**, he/she is eligible for a tuition fees grant of €6000 per year (equivalent to an exemption of approximately 70% of tuition fees) as well as for a grant of €5000 to cover living costs for the second year of study. This comes in addition to the tuition fees grant. Only students having requested this grant will be considered.

During the year abroad (third year of the undergraduate programme):

Scholarship recipients who are among the top 50% of students in their year group at the end of their second year will retain their tuition fee grant during their year abroad.

For those students awarded a grant to cover living costs in their second year, a grant to cover the costs of the stay abroad will be provided if deemed necessary and if the destination justifies.



* For example, in 2007-2009, the average mark required was 13.5/20.

** For example, in 2007-2008, the average mark required was 15/20.
