2012 Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) August Intake

The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is a collaboration between the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR), the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the National University of Singapore (NUS). The PhD training will be carried out in your chosen laboratory at A*STAR research institutes, NTU or NUS. Upon successful completion, you will be conferred a PhD degree by either NTU or NUS.

ASEAN Graduate Scholarship 2012 at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

This scholarship is open to nationals of member countries of ASEAN* (except Singapore) to pursue a designated full-time Masters degree by coursework and dissertation at NTU.

Singapore:NRF (Clean Energy) PhD Scholarships 2011

The NRF (Clean Energy) PhD Scholarships offer support for up to four years of academic pursuit, leading to a PhD in related disciplines such as Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science or Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. All research topics should be in the following areas related to Clean Energy, with focus on solar:

Singapore:The Lee Kuan Yew post-graduate scholarship

The Lee Kuan Yew post-graduate scholarship was awarded to 4 recipients on 4 August 2010. They are Senior Lieutenant-Colonel Frederick Chew, Ms Phua Puay Li, Mr Darius Chan and Mr Kelvin Tan.

Application for the 2011 Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship will commence on 8 November 2010 and close on 8 December 2010.

General

The Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship is synonymous with both prestige and a willingness to serve Singapore. It marks Singapore's continuous effort to recognise outstanding individuals with the aptitude and inclination to contribute to our society.

With generous contributions from the public, the Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship Fund was set up in 1991 in honour of Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew.


Level and Fields of Study

Scholars can pursue either Master's or PhD programmes at local or overseas universities. There is no restriction on the course of study.
Applicants should individually make private arrangements to sit for the pre-admission tests such as GRE, TOEFL or GMAT.

Eligibility

The scholarship is highly selective. Applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
Singapore Citizen with outstanding academic records (at least a Second Class Upper Honours Degree); and
Demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities and be active in social, community services or sports.
Applicants who are pursuing a Master's Programme in General Management should preferably have at least 4 years of working experience. Applicants who intend to pursue either PhD or other Master's Programme should preferably pursue an area of study/research that would be beneficial to Singapore. Public Officers are required to submit their applications through their Chief Executive Officers or Permanent Secretaries.

Terms and Conditions

Besides receiving a one-off sum of S$10,000, successful applicants will be given an annual allowance. For the annual allowance portion, the private sector awardees will receive S$50,000. Those from the public sector will receive S$10,000. This Scholarship does not carry any bond.

Singapore:Nanyang DSO Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Nanyang Technological University (NTU) invites outstanding researchers with a PhD degree in science and technology to apply for the prestigious NDPD awards.

Key Features

The NDPD scheme provides selected young and promising scientists to conduct and lead research that is relevant to defence in Singapore/NTU. It offers:

•a 2-year research grant
•attractive and competitive remuneration
•possible consideration for tenure-track academic appointment with NTU at the end of
the NDPD scheme

The NDPD-RF may conduct research at Temasek Laboratories or other research entity at NTU.

The research areas for NDPD 2010 are provided below:

•Biomimicry
•Cognitive Science
•Cyber Security
•Microsystems Technologies
•Computational Photography

Fellows may lead and conduct research and publish in the above areas are encouraged to apply. Other fundamental areas of science or technology, where a breakthrough would be of interest to defence and security, will also be considered. Eligibility

Outstanding young scientists and researchers with a Ph.D degree in the relevant discipline of science or technology from a reputable university, are eligible to apply for the NDPD.

Research project proposals which are already funded by other agencies or being considered for funding by other agencies are not eligible for funding under the NDPD Scheme. The NDPD-RF shall not apply for other funding support, unless approval has been given by the NDPD funding agency.

The NDPD grant call will be opened from 11 Oct 2010 to 11 Jan 2011.

Applicants will be shortlisted by a NDPD Review Panel. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to Singapore in Apr/May 11 to present their research plans, meet local researchers and identify potential collaborators. Shortlisted applicants from outside Singapore will receive an allowance to cover travel and accommodation expenses.
