Eliahou Dangoor Scholarships At Cardiff University,UK

These new scholarships are the result of a £3 million investment by Dr Naim Dangoor OBE to provide selected UK universities with funding to help UK undergraduate students from lower income backgrounds to become the next generation of scientists and engineers.

Cardiff University is pleased to have approximately 50 Eliahou Dangoor Scholarships.

How much are the scholarships worth?

Each Eliahou Dangoor Scholarship is worth £1,000 for one year. They are cash payments.

When are the scholarships available?

The Scholarships are available to undergraduate students beginning their studies in September 2010.

In what subject areas are the scholarships available?

The scholarships are available in specified degree programmes in the following subject areas/academic schools (the numbers in brackets denotes the number of scholarships available in each academic school)*

Who will be eligible for the scholarships?

These scholarships will be awarded to the UK students coming to Cardiff University in September 2010. To be eligible for a scholarship you must be:

  • a UK student as defined in the Student Support regulations.
  • eligible for a Cardiff University Bursary. Please click here for more information.
  • not in receipt of a Cardiff University Scholarship.

These scholarships will be awarded to students coming to Cardiff with the highest academic attainment in each subject area.

This judgement will be made by admissions tutors on the basis of entrance qualifications as confirmed to the University by 31 August 2010. The UCAS tariff score for this purpose is based on the cumulative score from the student’s three highest A-levels/Welsh Baccalaureate (or alternative qualifications as listed in the terms and conditions). General Studies and Critical Thinking are not accepted. Additional criteria including AS-levels and GCSEs may also be considered in this judgement. How do I apply for a scholarship?

You don't need to apply for these scholarships. As long as you have accepted the offer you have received from Cardiff University on a firm basis by 31st July 2010, then you will automatically be considered for an award.

However, you must have:

  • a means tested assessment (as required for student maintenance loans) by your award authority confirming your household income level of under £50,020
  • given consent to share this assessment information with the University.

When will I know if I have been successful?

Those who are successful will be notified in writing as soon as possible in September 2010.

If I am successful when will I receive my scholarship?

Successful students will receive a payment of £500 in November 2010 and a second payment of £500 in February 2011.
