Doctoral Studentship 2011 In Finland

The position is funded by an EU FP7 funded project called MAREX – Exploring Marine Resources for Bioactive Compounds: From Discovery to Sustainable Production and Industrial Applications. The appointee will focus mainly on studying the antibacterial and antiviral properties of marine natural products and derivatives that are coming from domestic and international collaborators.


The work will also include screening data analysis and follow-up studies as well as project reporting.

We are looking for an applicant with a M.Sc. degree in a scientific discipline relevant to the tasks (such as pharmacy, microbiology, biotechnology, biochemistry). Preferably the applicant should have experience on cell-based screening assays and on analysis of screening data. The applicant must be fluent in English and possess excellent team and communication skills.

The salary for the present post will be based on levels 2–4 of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance. The salary range will be between EUR 2,000 and 3,000 per month depending on the qualifications and previous experience of the appointee.
