Applications to undertake part-time study towards the degrees of Doctor of Philosophy are also welcomed by the University on a self funded basis.

How to Apply

To be considered for entry, applicants should hold, or expect to hold by 15 August 2010 a first or upper second class honours degree in a subject relevant to the proposed research topic. The closing date for the receipt of applications for full-time study and associated awards is 26 March 2010. The projects will be advertised at the end of January 2010.

Chinese Government Scholarship

Brief Description

Chinese Government Scholarship scheme is established by the Ministry of Education of P.R. China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) in accordance with educational exchange agreements or understandings reached between Chinese government and governments of other countries, organizations, education institutions and relevant international organizations to provide both full scholarships and partial scholarships to international students and scholars. MOE entrusts China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) to manage the recruitment and carry out the routine management of Chinese Government Scholarship Programs.

Eligibility

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
2. Education background and age limit:
- Applicants for undergraduate program must have senior high school diploma with good academic performance and be under the age of 25.
- Applicants for master’s degree program must have bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.
- Applicants for doctoral degree program must have master’s degree and be under the age of 40.
- Applicants for Chinese training program must have senior high school diploma and be under the age of 35, Chinese language is the only subject available.
- Applicants for general scholar program must have completed at least two years of undergraduate study and be under the age of 45, all subjects besides Chinese language are available.
- Applicants for senior scholar program must have master’s degree or above, or hold academic titles of associate professor or above, and be under the age of 50.

Scholarship For Yemeni Students to Study in Canada

Brief Description

As a reflection of friendship and commitment to assist in Yemen’s human resource development, Nexen Inc. is pleased to announce an additional 10 scholarships for post-secondary studies at the University of Calgary in Calgary, Canada. Nexen’s Yemen Scholarship Program was originally initiated to celebrate the company’s 10th anniversary in Yemen. A total of 110 scholarships have been awarded to deserving Yemeni secondary school graduates to date. The ten scholarships will be awarded by Nexen Inc. and the Scholarship Steering Committee in January 2010.


Eligibility
  • Be a Yemeni citizen residing in Yemen for the past two years;

Belgian Scholarship Programme For Uganda 2010/2011

Brief Description

The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Sports, in cooperation with the Government of Belgium, will award bilateral SCHOLARSHIPS to Ugandan Health Workers working in the Public and PNFP health sectors, Ugandan professionals working in the Public Education and Sports Sector and Ugandan nationals (civil servants, employees from the private sector and the civil society) for the academic year 2010/2011.

The Belgian Government provides scholarships for PhD studies, Master, Bachelor and Short Training Programmes at Local, Regional, and European universities. The Belgian Government actively promotes a gender balance in its scholarship programmes and candidates working upcountry will be given priority. Studies at reputable universities all over Uganda can be funded.


General Requirements

A. Minimum Requirements for a Mixed PhD:

1. Ugandan national
2. Candidates must not be over 40 years old on 31/5/2010.
3. Prior to application, candidates must have the written approval of the relevant supervising Ugandan professor on the basis of a clearly defined proposal.
4. Candidates must have a Master Degree in the same field as the PhD studies
5. Candidates must be working as a teacher or as a researcher at a recognized Ugandan university or a national research institute
6. The PhD subject should be relevant to his/her teaching programme or research
7. Candidates must have the written authorization of their employer and a letter of guarantee of employment after completing the studies
8. Candidates must have a valid letter of admission to the University at the time of submission of the application file.


B. Minimum Requirements for Master studies:

1. Ugandan national
2. Candidates must not be over 35 years old on 31/5/2010.
3. Candidates must have a Bachelor Degree
4. The course has to be relevant to their work
5. Candidates must have a valid letter of admission to the relevant university by 30th June 2010
6. Candidates must have the written authorizationof their employer and a letter of guarantee of employment after completing the studies

C. Minimum Requirements for Bachelor studies (Health Workers and BTVET institutions only):

1. Ugandan national
2. Candidates must not be over 30 years old on 31/5/2010
3. Candidates must have an A-level certificate or an equivalent
4. Candidates must have a letter of admission to the relevant university by 30th June 2010
5. Candidates must have the written authorization of their employer and a letter of guarantee of employment after completing the studies

D. Minimum Requirements for Short Training

Programmes (Belgium / Europe / Uganda):

1. Ugandan national
2. The course has to be relevant to their work
3. Candidates must have the written authorization of their employer and a letter of guarantee of employment after completing the studies
4. Candidates must have a valid letter of admission to the relevant programme

General programme (Civil Servants, Employees from the private sector and from the Civil Society):

Scholarships (Masters & PhD only) must be directly related to the sectors and the themes of the Belgian Development Cooperation. These are: public health, education and training, agriculture and food security, basic infrastructures (water, irrigation, secondary roads, rural electrification, etc.), conflict prevention and peace building, equal promotion of men and women, protection of the environment, promotion of social economy

Applicants can obtain the application forms for the academic year 2010 /2011 from the Embassy of Belgium website, www.diplomatie.be/kampala or at the reception of the Embassy, from Monday to Friday between 9 am and 1 pm, proving compliance with the criteria. Only candidates complying with these criteria should apply for a scholarship.

Scholarship From Ministry Of Education Of Taiwan 2010

Brief Description

The Ministry of Education of Taiwan offers one scholarship to students of Austria, Slovenia and Croatia for the academic year 2010/11. The scholarship is intended to encourage the study of degree programs, which are taught in English or Chinese (undergraduate, Master and PhD programs).

Eligible Countries

This scholarship is only for the students of Austria, Slovenia and Croatia.

Eligibility

- Austrian, Slovenian or Croatian citizenship
- General qualification for university entrance
- Students who already received a scholarship from the Taiwanese government as well as students who are currently studying in Taiwan are not eligible to apply for the same or lower academic degree.

The EFC AGA and Conference 2010 Scholarship Programme In Belgium

Brief Description

The EFC AGA and Conference Scholarship Programme is now open for applications. This scholarship fund has been generously funded by EFC members and is aimed at widening participation in the conference, bringing foundation staff from across the world.

Eligibility and Condition Of Application

The eligibility criteria required to apply for the scholarship is as follows:

• The organisation should be unable to cover the costs of attending the conference
• Transparent finances and activities
• Capacity to qualify for EFC membership
• Attending the whole AGA and Conference
• Only one application per organisation •Priority will be given to those aged 35 years and under

The scholarship programme is intended to cover one or more of the following:

• Registration fee for the AGA and Conference - Registration covers conference participation, meals (where indicated in the programme), social events and a conference bag of materials (including the Delegates List) distributed when registering onsite
• Travel expenses (participant’s own arrangements, economy rates only) - Any transfers, meals, visas or other travel-related costs are exempt and these must be covered by the individual
• Accommodation expenses (two nights in a single room selected by the EFC Secretariat) - Hotel incidentals such as phone calls, room service, pay-for-view tv etc are exempt and are the responsibility of the individual upon checking out of the hotel.

Australian Development Scholarships (ADS)

Brief Description

Australian Development Scholarships are a highly valued form of development cooperation that aims to contribute to the long term development needs of Australia's partner countries to promote growth and stability. They provide opportunities for people from developing countries to undertake full time undergraduate or postgraduate study in Australia.Up to 1000 Australian Development Scholarships are awarded each year across 31 countries with scholarships awarded equally between men and women.


Categories


There are two categories of Australian Development Scholarships:

Public sector: Applicants are public sector employees who are nominated by their governments for an Australian Development Scholarship award through a competitive selection process. Applicants are required to return to their role in the public service at the completion of their award to strengthen public service capacity in their home country.

Open/equity: Applicants do not need to be nominated by their government or employer. Anyone who meets the selection criteria may apply under this category. Applicants are required to return to their country of citizenship after the completion of their award to contribute to the development of the identified priority sector in their country.

Eligibility


Applicants for Australian Development Scholarships must satisfy both the general eligibility criteria and specific criteria established for each country. Applicants will also need to satisfy all requirements of the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

General eligibility criteria

Applicants must:

  • be a citizen of an ADS participating country
  • not hold Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent resident status
  • not married to, a de facto of, or engaged to, a person who holds or is eligible to hold an Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent resident status
  • not hold or have held an Australian government funded scholarship in the preceding 12 months at the time of application
  • satisfy any specific criteria established by the applicant's country and/or government of citizenship
  • satisfy the admission requirements of the Institution at which the ADS is to be undertaken
  • satisfy all requirements of the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship.
