Faculty for the Future fellowships are awarded to women from developing and emerging economies who are preparing for PhD or post-doctoral study in the physical sciences and related disciplines at top universities for their disciplines abroad. Launched by the Schlumberger Foundation in 2004, the Faculty for the Future community now stands at 194 women from 54 countries, and grows steadily each year

UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists

The UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists promote the mobility of young artists in order to enrich their personal perspectives, to enable them to engage in an intercultural dialogue and expose them to cultural diversity.

The Programme offers residencies to young artists (between 25 and 35 years old) worldwide. It shares many objectives of the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (2005), which advocates cultural exchanges and highlights creativity and the need for artists to enrich their experience through contact with other cultures.

The bursaries are limited and are awarded on a selective basis. The pre-selection of candidates is carried out by the institutions. Artists must therefore apply directly to the institution of their interest, depending on the discipline and/or country sought.


The application file is to be submitted directly to the institution of interest.

General Remarks

■Applicants may submit only one application per year and can participate in the Programme only once in their careers.

■Candidates who are nationals of the country where the chosen institution is located are not taken into consideration.

■In some cases, a document proving language proficiency is required by the host institution.

The institutions pre-select three candidates to submit to UNESCO. The Organization then makes the final decision based on the criteria of geographical distribution and gender balance.

The laureates are then informed of their selection by the institutions where they have been granted residency. The respective institution and successful laureate then sign a mutually binding agreement.

USA:Diversity Abroad / GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Scholarship 2010

Overview
Diversity Abroad is pleased to announce the launch of a new scholarship aimed atincreasing non-traditional students participation in education abroad in the Asia/Pacificregion. Diversity Abroad, in partnership with GlobaLinks Learning Abroad and TheFoundation for Asia Pacific Education will offer scholarships for undergraduatestudents to study abroad in the Asia/Pacific region during summer, fall and spring terms.

In addition to these general requirements, applicants must also meet ONE of the following requirements:

HIV Research Trust Scholarships

The scholarship will open from september.Applications for scholarships are requested annually from early September for approximately seven weeks. For ease of communication with all the nations that might be involved, application is web and email based. You can find more details in the Guidance Notes.

The Applications are assessed independently and judged by the quality of the proposal with respect to the science, the training to be received and the value of the programme to the home institution. In this web site we have listed a brief description of past Scholars, their speciality and their area of research interest to show the range of research and training that has been covered.

Once the applications have been received they will be independently reviewed. Successful applicants will be informed early the following year. Google Zawadi Africa Scholarship 2010/2011

As part of our ongoing commitments to supporting education in Africa and to diversifying the engineering talent pool, we are encouraging African women to pursue careers in computer science and technology. We’ve partnered with the Zawadi Africa Educational Fund to grant five Kenyan women full scholarships to complete degrees in computer science, computer engineering and/or ICT. The Google Zawadi Scholars will pursue studies at top universities in Kenya and South Africa, and they’ll each have the support of a Google engineering mentor. Selection criteria include excellent academics, extracurricular involvement, leadership potential and financial need.

Arthur Troop Scholarship 2011

IPC Chairman Stephen Crockard has asked Sections please to publicise the Arthur Troop Scholarship for 2011. All applications must be made through the Sections and must be received at the IAC before the closing date of 30th September 2010.

1. In order to support professional education and to complement advanced training, ten ‘Arthur Troop Scholarships’ may be awarded annually by the PEB, preferably including at least one from each continent.
2. Each Scholarship shall consist of a bursary of not more than 3,000 Swiss Francs that is to be used for a seminar at the International Conference Centre ‘IBZ Schloss Gimborn’, or comparable institution, and shall include travel expenses.
3. The study Scholarship shall be awarded to IPA members in police service, but is predominantly targeted at the younger, lower ranking member , who is not generally in the position to avail police service funded courses. The member must submit a completed application, together with a supporting document giving reasons why IPA should grant the Scholarship:

(a) The application must be processed through their National Section, who shall forward it to the International Secretary General (IAC).

(b) The National Section shall submit a supporting statement with the application.

4. The applicant must have been a member of the IPA for a least one year.

5. The Scholarship must be taken between the 1st January and the 31st December, of the year following the grant of the Scholarship. The IPC Chairman will submit up to ten (10) suggestions to the PEB. Extensions will only be granted under exceptional circumstances.

USA: John S. Marshall Memorial Scholarship 2010

Established in 2005 to further mining by affording educational opportunities by assisting worthy young students in the Mining Engineering departments of leading colleges and universities, which confer degrees in Mining Engineering. John Sidney Marshall, an AIME member throughout his career, came to us from Virginia via V.P.I. (BS degree in Civil Engineering) and a career of achievement and accomplishment as a mining engineer, specializing in the ancient and honorable mining of coal.

Eligibility

*Enrolled full-time in an ABET-accredited Mining Engineering program and will be a junior or senior undergraduate in the subsequent school year (after the award is presented)
*Demonstrated financial need
*No funds shall be provided for any one student for a period of over five (5) years
*Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in the mining industry, e.g. extensive coursework, work experience, active in Member Society local chapter
*Student member of Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME)
*More than one candidate from the same department may apply

The JOSYLEEN Scholarship Partnership With Erasmus Mundus Program

Erasmus Mundus is providing full scholarships for students and university staff in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and the EU, through the EMP-JOSYLEEN programme. EMP-JOSYLEEN (JOrdan, SYria, LEbanon, Europe Network) is an institution-based scholarship programme organized by 20 prestigious universities in Europe, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. The JOSYLEEN scholarships are awarded to students on undergraduate, masters, doctoral and post-doctoral level and to university staff in academic or administrative positions. The programme is funded by the European Union, for the fourth year.

Objective

The JOSYLEEN (JOrdan, SYria, LEbanon, Europe Network) project aims to enhance understanding and international cooperation capacity in the field of science, education and culture between Europe and Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. Through a comprehensive scholarship scheme students and university staff from Jordan, Syria and Lebanon have the opportunity to study/do research/teach in Europe and vice versa.

Since the project started in 2007, around 110 scholarships have been distributed annually.The number of scholarships to be distributed in 2010 is 147.

The JOSYLEEN scholarships are aimed at three so-called Target groups. Butex Awards 2010/2011 For UK & North American Students

Overview

Each year BUTEX awards sixteen scholarships to students studying abroad for either a semester or for a whole academic year. Eight scholarships are available to North American students studying in the UK.The value of each scholarship is £500 and will be paid to the winners once they have arrived and registered at their host university.

World Habitat Awards 2010 In Uk

Overview

The World Habitat Awards were established in 1985 by the Building and Social Housing Foundation as part of its contribution to the United Nations International Year of Shelter for the Homeless.Two awards are given annually to projects that provide practical and innovative solutions to current housing needs and problems, from the global South as well as the North.
Every year an award of £10,000 is presented to each of the two winners at the annual United Nations global celebration of World Habitat Day.

Demonstrate practical, innovative and sustainable solutions to current housing issues faced by countries of the global South as well as the North.

Can be transferred or adapted for use as appropriate.

View the term habitat from a broad perspective and bring other benefits as well, such as energy or water saving, income generation, social inclusion, community and individual empowerment, capacity building or education.

The World Habitat Awards competition has a two-stage entry process:

Stage I submissions need only comprise a summary of the key aspects of the project. From these preliminary submissions, ten projects are selected by an Assessment Committee to go forward to Stage II of the competition.

Stage II submissions are evaluated by an independent advisory group before being put to a panel of international judges, which include the Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) and the Rector of the United Nations University, Tokyo. Evaluation visits are carried out to some of the projects prior to the final judging.
All Stage I submissions must be received by 1st November 2010.

Fulbright-Tocqueville Distinguished Chair Award 2011-2012

Department and the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, created the Fulbright-Tocqueville Distinguished Chair Award in 2005 on the occasion of the centennial of the birth of Senator J. William Fulbright and the bicentennial of the birth of Alexis de Tocqueville. The award, open to American university professors with a prominent record of scholarly accomplishment, aims to reinforce collaborative research between the United States and France in all fields of study concerning Franco-American relations

Grantees are invited as guest lecturers and researchers at a host French university, where they have the opportunity to meet with French colleagues, organize and participate in conferences, and interact with French graduate and doctoral students in their area of expertise.Two awards, one for each semester, will be attributed for the 2011-2012 academic year. Starting in 2010, the application for the chair position will be sent jointly (and thus no longer successively) by the American professor and the French host institution.
